Macbeth

Decay of the Mind

In third year we studied Shakespeare’s Macbeth,¬†which we split into two projects – One of which we could create our own brief for and the second, project B, we had to redesign according to a specific time period. Project A centred around the themes of mental decay that is relevant in the play, where I looked into how the costumes could reflect a sense of mental erosion that eats away at the characters of Lady Macbeth and her Husband. I then redesigned the project, still maintaining themes of mental decay, but using the shapes of 1910s women’s wear as a basis for design of Lady Macbeth.
